William "Scotty" H. Colvin
William H. "Scotty" Colvin, 83, of Dayton, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at his home.
He was born on September 21, 1941 and was a son of the late John Henry Colvin and Gertrude Lillian (Craft) Colvin.
Scotty was united in marriage to Barbara Croushorn Colvin, on December 16, 1995, who survives.
Scotty served his country in the United States Navy, serving as a Senior Crew Chief, retiring after 20 years as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. Scotty had worked as a volunteer at University Ministries in Jacksonville, FL and was recognized as Volunteer of the Year.
Scotty survived three plane crashes during his naval career. He started the "We Care" program in the Human Resources Department in Brunswick, Maine, for the whole Atlantic Fleet. The program won the Naval Station the gold and silver anchor awards, which had never been awarded at the same time before.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Colvin and children, Deborah Colvin, William Colvin, and John Colvin; brother, Johnnie Colvin.
Friends and family may visit Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater, between 10AM - 5PM, on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
A memorial service celebrating Scotty's life will be held at 1PM on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater, with Pastor Troy Pearson officiating. A graveside service will be held at 10AM at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
