William F. Sellers
STAUNTON – William Franklin “Bill” Sellers, 87, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025.
Born January 29, 1938 in Augusta County, he was a son of the late Robert Leighton Sellers Sr. and Alice (Brooker) Sellers. He was a graduate of Wilson Memorial High School. He was employed by General Electric for ten years, and then by DuPont for 35 years prior to retirement.
Bill was a life-long, avid hunter, and also enjoyed attending auctions. He enthusiastically followed his grandsons’ baseball games, and was well-known at the ballfield by fellow fans and also by the umpires! He attended Hebron Presbyterian Church.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Jean (Moneymaker) Sellers; three sisters, Anna Stratton, Marie Critzer and Helen Miller; and two brothers, Robert Leighton Sellers Jr. and John E. Sellers.
Surviving are two children, Debbie Huffer and husband Danny of Churchville, and Monty Sellers and wife Tammy of Stuarts Draft; three sisters, Mary Painter of Staunton, and Dorothy Sayre and Nancy Layne, both of Waynesboro; one brother, Harold Sellers of Swoope; two grandsons, Daniel Huffer of Lake Worth, Fla., and Donovan Huffer and wife Sarah of Lynchburg; three great-grandchildren, Cora, Charlotte and Oliver; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 7 in Bear Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 8 in Green Hill Cemetery, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Henry Scoggins.
