William "Bill" Herbert Hall

William Herbert “Bill” Hall, Jr., 80, husband of Shirley Anne (Sprouse) Hall, of North Coalter Street, Staunton, passed away Monday, December 25, 2023 at his residence. 
Mr. Hall was born in Staunton, Virginia on May 4, 1943, the son of the late William Herbert Hall, Sr. and Hallie Mae (Thompson) Hall.
Bill was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired as a police officer from the Staunton Police Department. He worked as a court bailiff for the Augusta Juvenile and Domestic Court and volunteered at the Staunton Augusta Rescue Squad for many years. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed gardening, watching NASCAR, and visiting Charles Town, West Virginia.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Maxine (Hall) Fielding. 
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 57 years, is a nephew, Steven Sheets and his wife, Kelly; a niece, Dori L. Steffes and her husband, Larry; a great-niece, Melanie Sheets; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Jenkins and her husband, Willie; and his pet cat, “Herby”.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Reverend William “Bill” Trice. 
The family will receive friends following the service. 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s memory to Augusta Health Foundation, c/o Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, Virginia 22939.
The family would like to express a special “Thank you” to the staff at Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, especially Ashlie, Melissa, and Joy for the care and compassion shown to Mr. Hall. 
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
