Wilda "Faye" (Chandler) Fretwell

Wilda “Faye” (Chandler) Fretwell, 79, of Stuarts Draft, passed away on Tuesday, August 05, 2025, at her residence. 
Ms. Fretwell was born in Waynesboro, Virginia on March 7, 1946, a daughter of the late John William Chandler and Juanita Virginia (Nuckols) Chandler.
Faye retired from DuPont after 38 years of dedicated service as an administrative assistant. A devoted mother and grandmother, her family was the center of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them—especially her beloved grandchildren. Faye found joy in tending to her garden, working in her yard, and exploring local yard sales and thrift stores.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Fretwell was preceded in death by the father of her children, Jerald Fretwell; and a nephew, Keith Chittum.
Surviving, is a daughter, Anita LaPorte and her husband, Jeff of Churchville; two sons, Todd Fretwell and his wife, Amy of Spottswood and Jon Fretwell and his wife, Crystal of Churchville; two sisters, Jean Chittum and Brenda Cox and her husband Johnny, all of Stuarts Draft; six grandchildren, Kala, Bethany, Megan, Aaron, Gabby, and Jackson; and a number of nieces.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Ms. Fretwell’s residence, 339 Cranberry Drive, Stuarts Draft, VA 24477.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025 in the Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery by Mr. Gary Eavers. 
Active pallbearers will be her sons, Todd and Jon; son-in-law, Jeff; grandson, Jackson; and Justin Smith and Eric Harris.
It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee  38105-1942 or H.E.L.P (Health Equipment Loan Program), P.O. Box 76, Churchville, Virginia 24421.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Legacy Hospice for the compassionate care and support provided to Ms. Fretwell during her final days.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
