Weldon "Bud" Morgan Botkin
Weldon "Bud" Morgan Botkin, 87, of Rockingham, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at his home.
He was born on September 20, 1938, and was a son of the late William and Vernie (Armstrong) Botkin.
Bud retired from AmeriGas after more than 45 years of service. He was a member of Linville United Methodist Church, where he enjoyed leading the congregational singing. Bud also served as an assistant Boy Scout leader with Edom Troop 4 and was a life member of Hose Company No. 4. A lifelong lover of music, he played the bass guitar and the spoons, and enjoyed singing. Camping had been one of Bud's favorite things since childhood, and enjoyed memories made sharing the outdoors with his family.
Bud was united in marriage on April 12, 1958 to Winifred "Wimpy" (Cupp) Botkin, who survives.
Bud is also survived by two sons, Weldon "Rusty" (Faye) Botkin, Jr., and Jerry (Carolyn) Botkin; sisters, Wilma Wimer, and Alice Shifflett; three granddaughters, Katie Botkin Bensinger (Derek), Morgan Botkin Layman (Sean), and Allison Nicole Taylor (Josh); two great-grandchildren, Tucker and Landon Layman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Hupman, Vergie "Peggy" James, and Anna McCray; brothers, Roscoe Botkin, Sr., William Botkin, and Joseph Botkin.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 PM on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater.
A service celebrating Bud's life will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 8th, at the funeral home, with Pastor Costella Forney officiating. Burial will follow at Sangerville Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
