Walker B. Davis

CHURCHVLLE - Walker Benson “Dave” Davis went to be with our Lord peacefully, surrounded by family on January 22, 2022 at his residence in Churchville.

He was preceded in death by his youngest son Benson Lee Davis; parents Boyce and Lura Davis; and one sister, Alta Minor.

Surviving is his loving wife and caregiver of 44 years, Emma Fay Davis; four children, James Davis, Janette Ray, JoAnn “Jodie” Davis, Josef Davis and two special children Karin Graham and Donald Carico; many foster children; three sisters, Elizabeth Ballew, Nancy Harden, Linda Gibson; and many nieces and nephews. He was a very special “Grand Daddy” & “Paw Paw” to 14 grandchildren: Daniel Davis, Alexandra “Lexi” Davis, Gabriel “Gabe” Davis, Frankie Meadows, Isaiah Henderson, Tori Graham, Kimberly “Kimmy” Graham, Trey Graham, Crystal Wright, Savannah Thrift, Hailey Thrift, Raven Carico, Sir Carico, and Sophie Turley.

Dave was born in Travelers Rest, South Carolina and graduated from Travelers Rest High School. He served and retired with distinguished service from the U.S. Army as well as the Virginia Department of Corrections. Dave also volunteered at Augusta Health. He and his wife opened their home as foster parents for many years. Dave was a member of Annex United Methodist Church.

His biggest joy in life was his family and watching people laugh at his jokes.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 26 in Annex United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Blair O’Quinn and Russell Heinrich. Burial will follow in Jerusalem Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 - 7 p.m. Tuesday in Annex United Methodist Church.
