Virgil Loy Mallow
Virgil Loy Mallow, better known as “Pap”, age 88, of Cabins, WV, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Mr. Mallow was born on May 31, 1935 in Smoke Holes, WV, the son of the late Delmer Virgil and Lora Rebecca (Reed) Mallow. In 2014, Virgil married his loving wife, Rose (Champ) Mallow, who survives in Cabins.
Mr. Mallow attended school at the Brushy Run School House in Pendleton County and was a member of the Corner United Methodist Church. Virgil owned and operated Bean and Mallow Roofing and Siding in Dumfries, VA before retiring to Cabins, WV. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who also enjoyed riding four-wheelers. However, Virgil’s passion was his family. He loved spending time with them at the cabin or on the beaches of the Outer Banks, NC. He made lasting memories there that his family will cherish always.
Mr. Mallow is survived by: 3 daughters, Debbie Leigh (Mark) of Fredericksburg, VA; Brenda Holler of Dumfries, VA; Monica Carpenter of Cabins, WV; 2 brothers, Sunny Mallow (Sandra) of Woodbridge, VA; Fred Mallow of Cabins, WV; 5 Grandchildren; 6 Great-Grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. A few which were very special to him.
In addition to his first wife, Garlene Fitzwalter who passed away in 1999, he was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Bobo; 2 brothers, Ralph and Bob Mallow; 2 sisters, Dorothy Vance, and Ruth Matthews.
Mr. Mallow’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, 12-2 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Joseph Gerstell officiating. Interment will be in the South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens, Petersburg, WV. Memorials may be made to Corner United Methodist Church.
