Violet G. Rexrode

June 5, 1928 - March 11, 2021

STAUNTON – Violet Virginia (Griffin) Rexrode, 92, died Thursday (March 11, 2021) in Envoy of Staunton. 

Born June 5, 1928 in Deerfield, she was a daughter of James Huggard and Ida Mae (Altizer) Griffin. 

Violet was a devoted wife and mother, and was a dedicated caregiver for numerous extended family members.  She faithfully attended First Church of the Nazarene. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Carl Rexrode; a son, Carl Eugene Rexrode; and eight siblings.  Surviving are one son, Billy E. Rexrode and wife Linda of Churchville; three daughters, Patsy Hunter of Staunton, Karen Stevens of Waynesboro, and Teresa Wagoner and husband Jeff of Staunton; a daughter-in-law, Ora Rexrode of Anchorage, Alaska; nine grandchildren, Tina Martin and husband Martin, Dawn Morin and husband David, Lisa Clinedinst and husband Scott, Christel Nicklas and husband Joe, Justin Rexrode and wife Hannah, Stephanie Armstrong and husband Chris, Rebecca Baez and husband Ryan, Ryan Wagoner and Jonathan Wagoner; nine great-grandchildren, Natasha Morin, Cody, Max and Katie Fay Mears, Clay Bartley, and Ashlyn  and Easton Armstrong, and Jordan and Carter Baez; and one great-great-grandson, Aiden Stagner. 

A graveside service will be conducted ­­­­3 p.m. Sunday, March 14 in Green Hill Cemetery, officiated by the Rev. David Bailey.  Social-distancing and mask-wearing protocols will be observed according to current COVID-19 guidelines. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Church of the Nazarene, 1307 W. Beverley St., Staunton, VA  24401.
