Vernon William "Bill" Nesselrodt

July 21, 1937 - June 14, 2023

Vernon William "Bill" Nesselrodt, 85, of Mount Crawford, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at his home.

He was born on July 21, 1937 and was a son of the late Homer William and Tressie (Mitchell) Nesselrodt.

Bill was a contractor for over 40 years and had built hundreds of houses in the valley. He served in 1W Service from 1957 - 59. Bill loved his family, hunting, fishing, visiting Highland County, Alaska and traveling. He enjoyed gardening and watching wildlife on his farm.

On July 4, 1959, Bill was united in marriage to Reba Arlene (Martin) Nesselrodt, who preceded him in death February 17, 2021.

He is survived by his children, Rose Gray, of Mount Crawford, Wanda Propst and husband Alan, of Bridgewater, Mary Smith and husband Lee, of Mount Crawford, and Dale Nesselrodt and wife Kelli, of Chesterfield; grandchildren, George Gray IV and fiancée Kelcie Conley, Robert Gray and wife Deanna Blancher, Caitlin Holsapple, and Joshua Holsapple; step grandchildren, Seth Riley and wife Brooke, Corbin Riley and wife Ashley, and Cassandra Riley and companion Anthony Hamilton; step great grandchildren, Cayson Riley, Enzo Hamilton, and Eliana Hamilton; brothers, Jarrett Nesselrodt and wife Linda, Lowell Nesselrodt and wife Sharon; sisters, Kathryn Beck and Carolyn Rothwell; sister-in-law, Sharon Nesselrodt and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Charlena "Mae" Dove and Helen Minnick; brothers, David Nesselrodt and Stephen Nesselrodt.

Friends and family may visit Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater on Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 10:00 AM till 5:00 PM to sign the register and pay their respects.

Following cremation a service celebrating Bill's life will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Weavers Mennonite Church with Pastor Curt Stutzman officiating. Burial will follow at Weavers Mennonite Church Cemetery.

The family would like to thank his special caregivers: Priscilla Beach, Bonnie Goering, Martha Morris, and Joy Will.
