Vera Lee Marshall Bowman

Vera Lee Marshall Bowman, 94, of McGaheysville peacefully went to be with her Lord on November 28, 2024.

Vera was born on August 16, 1930 in Waynesboro, Virginia to the late Melvin M. and Mae S. Marshall.

Vera worked for many years at Dupont in Waynesboro. She loved working in her garden and flower beds. She enjoyed cooking for her friends and family and any occasion for people to gather.

On September 24, 1950 she was united in marriage to William H. "Bill" Bowman, who proceeded her in death on December 25, 2021. Also proceeding her in death are four brothers, Frank Marshall, Allen Marshall, Robert Marshall and Boyd Marshall.

Vera is survived by her daughter Sandra Hammer, husband Kenny and her son Charles Bowman, and wife Patricia, all of McGaheysville. Four grandchildren, Ken Hammer, wife Cathy, Adam Bowman, wife Melissa, Willie Bowman, wife Nicole, and Kymberly Coffman, husband Matthew. Two great grandchildren, Alex Coffman and Kaylee Hammer. One sister, Ruby McCalister and one brother, Richard Marshall. Dear friends that are considered family, Mike, Monica, Ashton and Abbagail Davis.

The family would like to thank the loving staff at Sunnyside Retirement Community that took such great care of her in her final months of life.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at Sunnyside Retirement Community Chapel. Friends can visit with the family after the service. A grave side service will be held at 3:30pm on Monday, December 2, 2024 at East Lawn Cemetery.
