V. "Bob" Robert Swick

October 22, 1939 - July 31, 2023

Vernon Robert “Bob” Swick, age 83 of Petersburg, WV passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV.

Bob was born on October 22, 1939 in Petersburg, WV and was a son of the late Homer Lee Swick and Anna Laura Ardelia (Mongold) Swick.  In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by five sisters, Kathaleen Roomsburg, Janet Williams, Rose Turner, Helen Hartman and Lucy Martin; two brothers, Jack Swick and James “Jim” Swick.

Bob is survived by two sons, David A. Swick of Petersburg, WV and Brian L. Swick of  Edinburg, VA;  One daughter, Bobbie  Jo Swick of  Petersburg, WV; Six Grandchildren and Three Great Grandchildren; One sister, Virginia Phillips of Petersburg, WV;

Two brothers, John Swick (Barbara) of South Fork, WV and Roger Swick (Sharon) of Petersburg, WV and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob was a lifelong truck driver and retired from Dettinburn Transport after 50 plus years. In 1999 Bob received the West Virginia Truck Drivers Award and also received many Safety Awards throughout his years of driving.  Bob enjoyed eating and visiting his friends at Family Traditions in Petersburg and watching the Redskins play. 

Bob’s family will receive friends Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 6-8 PM at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. 

Funeral service will be Friday, August 4, 2023 at 11 A.M. in the chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with Pastor Daryl Dunsmore officiating. 

Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg, WV.
