Stevie Allen Knight, Sr.

March 30, 1953 - June 8, 2023

Stevie Allen Knight, Sr., 70, husband of Vickie (Snead) Knight, of Goshen passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Mr. Knight was born in Staunton on March 30, 1953, he was preceded in death by the parents who raised him, John Franklin “Daddy Frank” Sprouse and Effie “Marie” Sprouse.
Stevie was a 1971 graduate of Buffalo Gap High School, a member of the Teamsters Local Union #29 of which he served as Steward and he was an avid New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed music, fishing, hunting, searching for mushrooms, and a grill master who loved to cook for friends and family. He also enjoyed playing corn hole with his friends, the “Craigsville Baggers”.
Stevie will be most remembered for his kindness to others, his storytelling abilities and the fact that he never met a stranger.
In addition to the parents who raised him he was preceded in death by his biological parents, Russel T. and Georgie (Sprouse) Knight; a brother, William “Billy” Knight;  and three sisters, Virgie “Patty” Robertson, Lois Colvin, Geraldine Sprouse; two brothers-in-law, Donald Robertson and Clyde "Pete" Colvin both of whom he had a close bond. 
Surviving in addition to his wife of thirty-one years are two sons, Stevie Allen Knight, Jr. and his wife, Brandy and Scott Edward Knight, both of Craigsville; grandchildren, Cody Thomas Knight Hazlett, Margaret Taylor Blackwell Knight, Ellee Marie Knight, and Gavin Edward Knight; brothers, Phillip N. Knight and his wife, Leslie of Swoope and Russell “Larry” Knight and his wife, Mary of Stuarts Draft; sisters, Kay Clifton of Churchville, Hope Wagner and her husband, Mike of Craigsville, Peggy Comer and her husband, Donnie of Waynesboro, Barbara Sprouse of Richmond, and Wanda Jackson of Staunton; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Betty Kennedy and Linda Arnold and his four legged boy, “Gill”.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Reverend Michael Herring and Mr. Robert Turner. 
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service or at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Stevie, Jr. and Brandy Knight, 35 Cemetery Lane, Craigsville, Virginia.
Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Cemetery in Augusta Springs.
Active pallbearers will be Earl McCray, Jr., Lee Kennedy, Wyatt Sours, J.F. Colvin, Eddie Colvin, Matt Sterrett, Ernie Lightner, Travis Harris, and Chuck Berry.
Honorary pallbearers will be his cornhole buddies, the “Craigsville Baggers”.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the Miller Memorial Cemetery, Post Office Box 23, Augusta Springs, Virginia 24411 or the Staunton-Augusta SPCA, Post Office Box 2014, Staunton, Virginia 24402.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory at 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
