Shirley Mae (Shover) Smith

Shirley Mae (Shover) Smith, 78, wife of Coven A. Smith, Jr., of Raphine, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Augusta Health in Fishersville, Virginia. 
Mrs. Smith was born in Staunton, Virginia on May 28, 1946, a daughter of the late Russell Eugene Shover and Elizabeth (Arehart) Shover.
Shirley was a member of St. John’s Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren and the outdoors. Shirley retired from Walmart where she was employed as a stock manager.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by two step-sons, Coven Smith and Jason Smith; two brothers, Marvin T. Davis and James Russell Davis; two sisters, Anna Marie (Shover) Coiner and Betty (Davis) Daughtry; and a granddaughter, Andrea Henson.
Surviving in addition to her husband of thirty-six years are two daughters, Rhonda A. McLaughlin of Mt. Crawford and Crystal D. Welcher of Verona; a brother, Leonard Preston Shover of Staunton; a sister, Mary Ann (Shover) Tankesley of Staunton; a step-daughter, Cheri Hudson and husband, Joe of Indiana; three grandchildren, Megan McLaughlin, Chelsea McLaughlin and Pamela Watson; and a number of great-grandchildren.
Those desiring may pay their respects from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.  
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 in Oaklawn Memory Gardens by Pastor Marty Marston.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
