Sharon Faith Deacon
STAUNTON – Sharon Faith Deacon, 77, died peacefully Wednesday, August 30, in her home.
Born November 8, 1945 in Staunton, she was a daughter of the late Hunter Bruce and Verna Faye (Bryant) Deacon and granddaughter of Kenton and Ava Bryant
Sharon graduated from Wilson Memorial High School in 1964. She was a registered nurse in King’s Daughter’s Hospital and Augusta Health for 45 years working in the Newborn Nursery. She enjoyed hunting, the ocean, her pets, and had an affinity with wolves.
In addition to her parents and grandparents, Sharon was also preceded in death by a cousin, John Showers. Surviving are her partner of 34 years, Lois Ann Hartman; a brother, Dennis Michael Deacon (Molly) of Callaway; and a sister, Joann Deacon Grissom (Mike) of Roanoke; sister-in-law Sue Hartman; godchild Kim Huffer Miller (Jerry); and cousins Connie Anthony (Tommy); Phil Bryant (Bobbi); Judy Bryant Carter; and Butch Showers (Laurie).
Sharon’s life was enriched by her family as well as good friends including Jennifer Perry Botkin; Wendy Hunt; the Miller girls, Margaret, Judy and Betty; and Connie and Pat Huffer.
A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday (September 5) in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service in Bear Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank Dr. John Marsh for his care of Sharon and the staff of Hospice of the Shenandoah, especially Kaitlyn, Tiffany, Kathy and Cheryl.
