Sarah Frances Whetzel

Sarah Frances (Cave) Whetzel, 71, of Dayton, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026.

She was born on December 11, 1954, and was a daughter of the late LeRoy Cave and Dolly (Hartman) Moyers.

Sarah worked for T&L Woodcraft, and loved being outside and spending time with the grandchildren.

Sarah is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Payne and husband, Cory; son, Adam Whetzel; brothers, Ward Cave, and Nelson Cave and wife, Sherry; sisters, Patricia Auville and husband, John, and Doris Hoover; four grandchildren, Troy Payne, Jason Payne, Bentley Whetzel, and Kaelynn Whetzel; the father of her children, Doug Whetzel; an several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Kay "Sue" Vandevender, and Patsy Baughman; sister-in-law, Shirley Cave; and a brother-in-law, Bobby Hoover.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 PM on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026, at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater.

A graveside service celebrating Sarah's life will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, October 1st, at Briery Branch Church of the Brethren Cemetery, with Pastor Darren Howdyshell officiating.
