Sandra Jean Hottel

Sandra Jean Hottel, 83, of Mount Crawford, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at her home.

She was born on June 27, 1943, and was a daughter of Luther Benjamin and Bernice L.(Riddleberger) Hottel.

Sandra was a 1961 graduate of Turner Ashby High School and worked for Bridgewater College for over 35 years. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Crawford United Methodist Church where she served as choir director for over 50 years, and enjoyed volunteering at various civic and religious organizations.

Sandra is survived by three children, Carissa Alexander, Cliff Shiflet, and Chris (Pam) Shiflet; brothers, Edwin (Sue) Hottel, and L.B. (Sandy) Hottel, Jr.; a sister, Nancy (Julio Trego) Fleischman; four grandchildren, Sydney Shiflet, Bradley (Rebecca) Shiflet, Layne Shiflet, and Ethan Shiflet; three step-grandchildren, Cassidy (Joel) Hensley, Aaron Dean, and Gabrielle Dean; four great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nephews, and a niece; special friend, Dick Myers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater.

A memorial service celebrating Sandra's life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, Aug. 22nd at Mt. Crawford United Methodist Church, with Pastor Russell Heinrich officiating. Burial will be private.
