Samuel "Bill" William Wiseman

January 22, 1929 - May 31, 2025

Samuel William “Bill” Wiseman, 96, widower of Lucille Elizabeth (Stoner) Wiseman, formerly of Skyview Circle, Verona, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Talbot Hospice in Cordova, Maryland. 
Mr. Wiseman was born in Middlebrook, Virginia on January 22, 1929, son of the late Samuel Maynard Wiseman and Louisa Jane (Hutchens) Wiseman. 
Bill proudly served in the United States Navy and later built a successful career as a carpenter and supervisor with Fralin and Sons Construction. Over the years, he contributed to the construction of several notable buildings, including the Chemistry Building at the University of Virginia, the George C. Marshall Library, and the Lenfest Center for the Arts at Washington and Lee University.
He was a devoted member of Memorial Baptist Church, where he attended the Rebekah Sunday School Class. Bill was also an active member of several community organizations, including Staunton Masonic Lodge #13, the Staunton Moose, and the Verona VFW.
A passionate outdoorsman, Bill found great joy in hunting, planting trees, and working on woodworking projects in his spare time.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
In addition to his wife of 60 years and his parents, Mr. Wiseman was preceded in death by a brother and six sisters. 
Surviving, are two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie L. McQuain and her husband, Gary of Mechanicsville, VA and Cindy S. Kerr and her husband, Logan of Cordova, MD; four grandchildren, Robert W. McQuain (Heather), Ryan L. Kerr (Shayna), Matthew Kerr (Rachael) and Emily Corban (Gordon); and thirteen great-grandchildren. 
A private graveside service for immediate family will be held in Thornrose Cemetery by Rev. William “Bill” Trice.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
