Ruvelva Jean Hughes Meeks, 73, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville. She was born on March 7, 1953, in Ector, Texas to the late Willie Edward and Alma Lois Wigley Hughes. Ruvelva was employed with the Target Distribution Center in Stuarts Draft, where she worked as a forklift operator. In her spare time, Ruvelva found joy in woodworking and loved spending time outdoors surrounded by nature. She had a special love for animals and never met one she didn’t care for. Above all, Ruvelva was a woman of deep faith. She faithfully read her Bible and made sure her family knew the importance of faith, prayer, and trusting in God. She is survived by her husband, Michael Wayne Meeks; her daughters, Valerie Deann Camp McKinney and Shannon Garrett; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Kevin Don Camp; her brothers, Edward Lee and Michael Dale Hughes; and her sister, Anna Lois Hughes McCullough. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Oak Lawn mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton. Henry Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
