Ruth Wade Wright

Ruth Wade Wright, 90, of Weyers Cave, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Bridgewater Home.

She was born on March 26, 1933 and was a daughter of the late James and Bessie (Cook) Wade.

Ruth loved the Lord and was devoted to her family and to serving others. She graduated from Wilson Memorial High School, class of 1950. She worked for many years as a secretary at Basic Witz Furniture Company in Waynesboro. She attended Blue Ridge Community College and worked approximately 25 years as the secretary of Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren in Weyers Cave, where she was a member, a deacon, and Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed many hobbies including cooking, sewing, crocheting, gardening, and playing the piano and organ.

Ruth was united in marriage on March 19, 1954 to Millard Grove Wright, who preceded her in death on January 25, 2016.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Thompson and husband Stan, of Waynesboro, and Jenny Andes and husband Steve, of Grottoes; her grandchildren, Caitlin Horn, Kristen Andes, Erin Andes, Sawyer Thompson, and Stephen Andes, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, James H. Wade, Calvin C. Wade, Edwin W. Wade, and Clyde A. Wade, and her sister, Elvira L. Borden.

A service celebrating Ruth's life will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren with Chaplain Russ Barb officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Friends may sign the register book and pay respects on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Johnson Funeral & Cremation Service in Grottoes from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
