Ruth "Shiflett" Kathleen Puffenbarger

August 9, 1958 - September 18, 2023

Ruth Kathleen (Shiflett) Puffenbarger, 65, wife of Ralph Lloyd Puffenbarger, of Staunton, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023 at the Shenandoah Hospice House in Fishersville, Virginia.
Mrs. Puffenbarger was born in Staunton, Virginia on August 9, 1958 a daughter of the late Hylan Ross Shiflett and Lilly Virginia (Price) Shiflett. 
Ruth was employed at Augusta Health and was a member of New Life Foursquare Church where she served in the nursery. She enjoyed getting together with her family, going to yard sales, and she especially loved her dog, Sassy.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Puffenbarger was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Virginia Puffenbarger.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of 26 years, are three sons, Rocky Lee Berry and his wife, Patricia of Craigsville, Michael Jonathan Berry and his fiancée, Dana Hoes of Stuarts Draft, and Nathan Ross Berry and his wife, Angela of Stuarts Draft; two step-sons, Ralph Puffenbarger and Joseph Puffenbarger, both of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Ronald Lee Shiflett, Sr. of Staunton and Raymond Thomas Shiflett and his wife, Carol of Stuarts Draft; two sisters, Agnes Rebecca Campbell of Staunton and Joan Ann Shiflett and her fiancé, John Eckard of Stuarts Draft; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren. 
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Coffman Funeral Home and other times at the residence. 
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 25, 2023 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Sherry Farley and Chaplain Jim McManus. 
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens. 
Active pallbearers will be Boyd Berry, Jr., Chucky Berry, Jesse Campbell, John Eckard, Ryan Campbell and Doug Campbell. 
It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions designated to the youth ministry at New Life Foursquare Church, 97 William Cousins Road, Staunton, VA 24401.
The family would like to express a sincere “Thank you” to the staff of Augusta Health Hospice, especially her hospice caregivers, Ashley Coiner, Joy Buchanan and Robin Hamilton; the Shenandoah Hospice House; and to caregivers, Joan Shiflett, Patricia Berry, and Agnes Campbell for the love and care shown to Mrs. Puffenbarger.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
