Ruth H. Hensley

WEST AUGUSTA – Ruth Helen (Bowen) Hensley, 80, passed away Friday (July 10, 2026) in Augusta Health.

Born November 2, 1945 in Harrisonburg, she was the daughter of the late Ruby Catherine (Bowen) Ward.

Ruth was a self-employed beautician for many years, faithfully serving clients in the Stuarts Draft, Covington and Deerfield communities. A resident of West Augusta for the past two decades, she was an active member of Deerfield Church of God and the Deerfield Ruritan Club. She was also a volunteer beautician for Augusta Health Hospice. She was gracious and kind, and was happiest when she was serving the needs of others.

She was preceded in death by her mother and step father, Ruby and Charles Ward. Surviving are two children, Allen Hensley and wife Kathi of Hot Springs, and Angie Colvin of Churchville; grandchildren Michelle Peters, Zane Colvin and Landon Hensley; great-children Alicia Clatterbaugh and Isaac Peters; and great-great-grandson Westyn Wimer.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 16 in Bear Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 17 in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, officiated by Pastors Merle Dodson and Drew Gibbons. Pallbearers will be Landon Hensley, Zane Colvin, Isaac Peters, Jacob Peters, Elliot Wandless, and Deon Gibbons.
