Rodney Hawk

Rodney Eric Hawk, age 56 of Petersburg, WV passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

Rodney was born on July 31, 1967 in Morgantown, WV and was a son of the late Olin T. Hawk and Phyllis (Mills) Hawk. 

Rodney is survived by two daughters, Paisley Wray Hawk and Preslea Lane Smith both of Petersburg, WV; two brothers, Terry L. Hawk (Tina) of Petersburg, and Kevin S. Hawk (Madelyn) of Germantown, MD and one sister, Rhonda K. Sites (Lysle Jr.) of Petersburg, WV; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Rodney was a 1985 graduate of Petersburg High School.  He was a heavy equipment operator for JG, LLC. in Clarksburg, WV.  He was an avid bear and deer hunter and bass fisherman.  He was a West Virginia Mountaineer fan of football and basketball.  He participated in Maysville Mud Madness.  He became the World Record Holder in the North Carolina Running Hill and Hole Competition. In 2010 Rodney drove the Wild 1 and his record still holds today. Rodney finished the race in 3.643 seconds.  Rodney also was a member of The Place in Moorefield, WV.

Honoring Rodney’s wishes his body will be cremated and a Memorial Service and dinner will be Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Maysville Fire Hall.
