Roberta Hoff
Roberta Lee Hoff, 83, passed away on Friday, March 7th, 2025 at Shenandoah Nursing and Rehab in Fishersville, Virginia. Roberta was born in Denver, Colorado on September 3rd, 1941.
Roberta loved her family. She had four children and drove them to and attended every award ceremony, gymnastics, choir, club and sporting event that they participated in. For many years she spent her summers reading and watching kids at the Stella Street pool. She enjoyed all pets and often had two hunting dogs, two cats and a small lap dog in her home. She was always ready for a trip; hunting, fishing, camping and traveling to northern Minnesota to see her family. Looking back at our photos you can see the joy in her smile at weddings, baby showers, birthdays and any gathering that she could see her grandchildren. She loved to read, craft, and shop for unique gifts. She made the best rigatoni and pheasant dinners and her favorite meal was leftover Canadian bacon and green olive pizza from Jakes.
She lost some of her memories later in life due to dementia and when she was no longer able to travel she loved her caregivers, enjoyed family phone calls and visits, games of scrabble, talking about her Danielle Steel book collection and anyone who brought her Werther’s soft carmels.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Ella Nelson, her sister, Janet Haiman, and her sister-in-law, Mickey Nelson.
Roberta is survived by her brothers, James Nelson (Marsha Kauppi) of Virginia, Minnesota, and William Nelson (Mavis Frolik) of Rice Lake, Wisconsin; daughter Liane Kolaskie of Waynesboro, Virginia; daughter, Jodi Biehler of Jones, Oklahoma; her son, Michael Hoff of Monticello, Minnesota; daughter, Jenny Gonsorowski (Roger) of Thief River Falls, Minnesota; six grandchildren – Ryan and Tyler Kolaskie, Chris and Caleb Biehler, Carley Davis (Drew), Nick Gonsorowski; and one great-granddaughter, Emery Davis.
Roberta was a wonderful Mother and friend. She will be missed by her family and all who loved her. Her children are planning a celebration of life to honor their mother along with a private graveside service in Eveleth, Minnesota in June.
The Family of Roberta Hoff are deeply thankful for the caring environment and the compassionate care provided by the staff at Shenandoah Nursing and Rehab in Fishersville, Virginia.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Charlton and Groome Funeral Home in Fishersville, Virginia.
