Robert Douglas Wright

STAUNTON – Robert Douglas “Doug” Wright, 53, of 420 North Market Street, passed away Saturday (March 4, 2023) in Augusta Health.

Doug was born January 27, 1970 in Luray, the son of David Harold and Patricia (Jenkins) Wright of Stanley. He graduated from Luray High School and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Radford University. He was the director of I. T. for the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind where he had been employed for over ten years.

Doug was a movie and sci-fi enthusiast. Going to movies and live music concerts with his wife Megan were favorite pastimes. He was devoted to his son, Hudson, with whom he shared a true passion for technology. Doug had a great sense of humor and was loved by many.

In addition to his parents, Doug is survived by his wife of 15 years, Megan D’Anne Bright; his son, David Hudson Wright; sister Jennifer Wright of Stanley; nephew Conner Good of Stanley; numerous aunts and uncles including Gloria and Al Jones of Stanley; and a number of cousins including an especially close cousin, Shawn Jones of Stanley.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11 in Cherryvale United Methodist Church, officiated by the Reverends Jim Harris and Jonathan Greer.
