Richard Rutz

Richard Lee Rutz, 76, formerly of Strasburg, VA passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023, at his home in Nashville, Tennessee.

Richard was born in Strasburg, VA on June 20, 1947, a son of the late John William and Mary Elizabeth Jenkins Rutz. He was a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Posey Hollow, and a 1965 graduate of Strasburg High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served a year in Vietnam. His love for music is what took him to Nashville, where he lived his dream and that was to make a record. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brother Boyd Rutz and Allen Rutz.

Survivors include two sisters Sandra K. Shrum (Ronnie) of Woodstock, VA, and Betty Gillis of Harrison Township, MI; his aunt Loretta Campbell of Strasburg, VA along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of Rutz cousins.

Services and burial for Richard will be held privately at Riverview Cemetery in Strasburg, VA.
