Richard "Rick" Kyle Shaw
Richard “Rick” Kyle Shaw, 63, husband of Barbara Gail (Sprouse) Shaw, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Mr. Shaw was born in Augusta, Maine on June 7, 1961, a son of the late Richard Lawrence Shaw and Constance Rae “Connie” (Johnson) Shaw.
Rick was a dedicated entrepreneur with many business endeavors, with his wife, Barb. He began investing at a young age by buying and selling at auctions and flea markets, which he never lost his passion for. He moved on to opening a wholesale business, furniture stores, a manufacturing business, and an alpaca farm. His legacy lives on through a fireworks business of 30+ years, commercial and residential real estate investments, and Trax Auto II. Rick was a business man and beach bum at heart. He was adventurous and loved to travel, the true definition of “work hard, play hard”.
Rick attended Heart of the Home Family Church. He was known for his generosity and compassion. He had a big sensitive heart and loved his family deeply.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Shaw was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey Shaw.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of thirty years, is a son, Richard “Kyle” Shaw II and his wife, Madison of Timberville; three daughters, Kayla (Shaw) Hart and her husband, Matt of Singers Glen, Kristina Shaw of Rockingham and Stephanie Park and her husband, James; three grandchildren, Teagan, Jackson and Cohen Hart; three sisters, Karen (Shaw) Bonsant and her husband, Robert of Maine, Lisa Shaw of Louisa, and Kimberly Shaw of Staunton; two sisters-in law, Kim Shaw and Darla Hake and her husband, Scott; a brother-in-law, Ricky Sprouse and his wife, Kim; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 2, 2024 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory in Staunton.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Fellowship Community Cemetery in Harrisonburg.
Active pallbearers will be his children, Kyle Shaw II, Kayla Hart, and Kristina Shaw, Matt Hart, son-in-law, Madison Shaw, daughter-in-law, and Jesse Allen, Ben Curran, and Shawn Minnick.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
