Richard Andrew “Rick” Redmon passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, at his home in Strasburg, Va on the morning of November 6, 2023.

A Celebration of Life for Rick will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Chris Flohr and Rev. James L. Moseley officiating.  A luncheon and a gathering to reminisce will follow in the Fellowship Hall.

The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 6-8 p.m.

Rick was born December 22, 1948, in Washington, DC and grew up in Bethesda, MD where heattended Walter Johnson High School. He remained close to his loyal group of Bethesda friends,
gathering with them yearly. Rick enjoyed sailing, travel, science, baseball, practicing tai chi, and reading audio books.

He lost his vision in 2005. This life altering event challenged him to accomplish a lifetime dream to go back to school and become a massage therapist. He also served two terms on the Strasburg Town Council and was elected as Vice Mayor twice by his fellow Council members. He was particularly proud of having participated in the planning of the Strasburg Streetscape. Rick was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Strasburg Lions Club.  He was blessed to have many dear friends who visited him faithfully during his last months. He was at peace and enjoyed laughing, joking, and talking about all that he was grateful for.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Beckner Redmon, father, James Edgar Redmon, brother, James Edgar Redmon, Jr., and his faithful Leader Dog, Cooper.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Campbell Redmon; his dearly loved daughters, Julia Redmon of Reston, VA and Virginia Redmon of Norfolk, VA; his younger sister, Linda Redmon Hughes of Clearwater Beach, FL along with numerous cherished nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Look for Rick in the things that he loved, his wife, his girls, his family, baseball, the water, Strasburg, chocolate, ice cream, and a delicious meal enjoyed with the ones you love.
