Reuben Hart
Reuben Hart, Jr., 75, of Charlottesville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at The Laurels of Charlottesville. He was born in Charlottesville on April 7, 1948, a son of the late Reuben Sr., and Catherine Pollard Hart.
Reuben graduated from Carter G. Woodson High School in 1966. He proudly served in the United States Army and achieved the rank of Private and served his time as a bread baker. He completed basic training, CPR training, presented good code of conduct, took part in the Geneva Convention training, MJA 68 and MCM69 training. Reuben was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Following his 2 years in the Army, Reuben served in the Army Reserves from February 18, 1970 until February 18, 1974. He worked for 23 years in the food services department with UVA. Reuben was also employed as a truck driver with Roadway Package Systems/ Custom Express for 15 years. He was a member of Union Baptist Church. Reuben loved music and dancing in his younger years. Fishing, traveling, and going to the movies were a few of his favorite hobbies.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ruby Hart.
Left cherish his memory are his sons, Jonathan Hart of Waynesboro and Zachary Allen of Waynesboro; grandchild, Jamison Hart; sisters, Patricia Bates of Mitchellville, MD and Catherine Hart of Landover, MD; nieces, Lori Fields and Anita Beckles; nephew, Darcy Bates; friends: Bobby Woodson, Robin Woodson, Grover Wallace and Priscilla Fitch; as well as extended family and friends.
A celebration of life service with military honors will be conducted at 2pm on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Union Baptist Church, 783 Avon Rd, Afton.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Grover Wallace for taking time and going with Reuben to his doctor appointments.
