Phyllis Irene Brooks

August 31, 1941 - September 14, 2023

Phyllis Irene (Craun) Brooks, 82, wife of Joseph Leland "Joe" Brooks of 413 McMahon Street, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at the Shenandoah Hospice House in Fishersville.

Mrs. Brooks was born on August 31, 1941 in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Ralph Lee Craun and Mary Bess (Gum) Craun Armstrong.

Phyllis was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and prior to retirement she was employed by Western State Hospital for twenty-five years and Perdue for five years. She loved the outdoors, planting and growing flowers, and enjoyed going to yard sales.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Sheets; a brother, Robert Craun; step-father, J. R. Armstrong; son-in-law, Robert Gaylor; and brother-in-law, Robert Bailes.

Surviving is her husband of 43 years; a daughter, Sherry Gaylor of Churchville; a son, Stanley Wayne Lotts, Jr. of Deerfield; step-daughter, Lattisa Rimmer of Stuarts Draft; a grandson, Robert Gaylor and his wife, Caleh and their children, Adriana Gaylor, Carson Gaylor, Lincoln Gaylor and Maddox Gaylor; two granddaughters, Terry Gaylor and her children, Karleigh Cease and Braylee Rakes; and Crystal Wiles and her husband, Jeremy and their children, Bentlee Wiles, Lexi Wiles, Noah Wiles; a sister, Jane Bailes of Staunton; sister-in-law, Annabelle Craun of Verona; a number of nieces, nephews and many close friends; and special cat, Blackie.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive and other times at the residence.

A Memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023 in the First Church of the Nazarene, 1307 West Beverley Street by Pastors David Bailey and Randy Swisher.

In keeping with Mrs. Brooks wishes, she was cremated and interment will be private in Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery in Mt. Sidney.
