Phyllis Alene Johnson

Phyllis Alene Johnson, 88, of Bridgewater, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Bridgewater Home, surrounded by her loving daughter, Pam, and granddaughters, Alex and Shayna. She passed at 8:15 p.m. while listening to two songs that beautifully reflected her faith and the hope of heaven, "I Can Only Imagine" and "It Is Well With My Soul."

Phyllis was born on April 16, 1938, and was the daughter of the late Kasmir Pasda and Geraldine Sarah Pasda.

Phyllis worked as an assistant for a physician and later helped her daughter establish and operate several licensed child care centers before retiring. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love and support touched generations of her family.

Phyllis was united in marriage to William Robert Johnson, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Johnson Houck (Raymond); two grandchildren, Sara Alexandra Wilfong and Shayna Alene Simmons; one great-grandchild, Scarlett Ansley Wilfong; a very special niece, Debra Pelletier; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Ann Bradley.

A memorial service celebrating Phyllis's life will be held Friday, October 2, at 5:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Grottoes, Virginia. Pastor Tim Frost will officiate.
