Pauline Reel

Pauline Reel, age 95 of Petersburg, WV passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Grant Rehabilitation & Care Center in Petersburg.

Pauline was born on November 13, 1928 in Maysville, WV and was a daughter of the late Lester R. Rohrbaugh and Marie (Stonestreet) Rohrbaugh.

In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn W. “Pete” Reel in 1987; one son, Mark Reel in 2009; one brother, Lyle Rohrbaugh; one sister, Freeda Curtis.

Pauline is survived by three sisters, Reva Reel of El Paso, TX., Hilda Perry and husband Dave of San Diego, CA and Amy Shafer of Albuquerque, New Mexico and several nieces and nephews including Diane Flanagan of Petersburg, WV.

Pauline was a 1947 graduate of Petersburg High School. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making some of her sister’s dresses.  Pauline was an avid reader and her passion was hunting. Pauline’s father took her hunting when she was quite young, and she continued the tradition and taught her son to hunt when he was young. After his death, even though Pauline was in her 80’s, she continued hunting with her special friend Richard Keplinger and killed her first bear. Although hunting was her passion all her life, Pauline was employed by Windsor Knit Sewing Factory in Petersburg for several years.

Honoring Pauline’s wishes, her body will be cremated and services will be private.
