Paul David Lawyer
On November 25, 2023 our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and uncle passed into eternal life. Senior Chief Petty Officer (Ret.) Paul David Lawyer, 87, was born in Berkeley Springs, WV on Sept. 1, 1936 to Harry and Pearl (Laign) Lawyer.
David graduated from Berkeley Springs High School in 1954 and entered service in the U.S. Navy on Aug. 19. He served in many overseas posts and the Vietnam War 1968-69. Upon retirement, Nov. 3, 1972, he returned to Berkeley Springs and worked for local industries until retirement in 1981.
On Jan. 7, 1986, he married Donna McFadden and they settled in Augusta Co. in a home he built.
Survived by wife; son, Tony Lawyer (Cherie), Berkeley Springs and their children Ian, Joshua, Devin; step-children: Pamela (Alvin, Jr.) Alexander and their children Susan, Morgan (Kelvin), Allison; Donald Steger, Jr. (Marsha) and daughter Gillian; brother William (Bill) Lawyer, Berkeley Springs, 96 years in 2023.
Predeceased by parents and brothers Raymond (2002) and James (2004) of Berkeley Springs. Survived by sisters-in-law Maud Lawyer, Berkeley Springs, and Bev Lawyer, Ormond Beach, Fl.
David was proud to serve his country and received many commendations and medals for outstanding performance of duties. David was a long-time active member of Mossy Creek Presbyterian Church in Mount Solon, VA.
As requested, David will be cremated with private burial service for family at a later date. A memorial service will be held at the church in Mt. Solon on Saturday, December 2 at 2:00 PM with Rev. James Smith officiating. A reception to follow in the Church fellowship hall.
