Paul Brown, II
Paul Edwin Brown, II, at the age of 84 and a half, of Staunton, Virginia, passed into glory on April 12, 2023.
Born May 20, 1938 in Gilmer, West Virginia, he was a son of the late James T. Sr. and Josephine Virginia (Detamore) Brown. Paul was preceded in death by a brother, James T. Brown, Jr. Paul served in the U.S. Army and was a plant supervisor at Auth Bros. wholesale meat house in the D.C. area for many years, retiring in 2000.
Paul was a former member of Knox Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Silver Spring, Maryland and subsequently a member of Staunton Orthodox Presbyterian Church; his service as a deacon to the two congregations spanned 41 years. He was a member of The Gideons International, Augusta North Camp. He enjoyed working with his hands in numerous venues: from flower gardening and landscaping to creating stained glass pieces, to remodeling, electrical and plumbing projects. Skeet shooting was also a favorite pastime.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Jean (Voigt) Brown, whom he married June 26, 1958; son Stephen J. Pak of the Philippines; daughter Stacy Brown Chen and husband Joseph Chen of Great Falls, Virginia.; grandson Malachi Paul Chen, nieces Cindy Benoit and Amy Weaver, and nephew Jay Brown.
A private burial will take place in Green Hill Cemetery, Churchville, Virginia. A memorial service will be officiated by Pastor Ethan Allison 2 p.m. Friday, April 21 in Staunton Orthodox Presbyterian Church.
