Patsy H. Reese
Patsy Ann Hipes Reese, 71, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at her residence in Steeles Tavern.
She was born on October 3, 1951, in Augusta County to the late Lawrence "Skinny" Edward and Louise Virginia Holcomb Hipes, Sr.Throughout her life, Patsy found joy and fulfillment working as a cook at White's Travel Center in Raphine for over 35 years. Later on, she continued to share her talent as a cook at the Valley Program for Aging Services for 7 years.Patsy's proudest accomplishments extended beyond her career. She was an active and devoted lifetime member of Old Providence ARP Church in Steeles Tavern, exemplifying her deep faith. Additionally, she generously served as a member of the Fairfield Rescue Squad and was a former member of the Raphine Fire Company.In addition to these accomplishments, Patsy had a passion for painting that brought joy to both herself and those who admired her art. Her creativity shone through this expressive medium.Patsy was cherished by her surviving family members and friends. Among them is her son, Steven Reese of Raphine; her grandson, Zachary Reese; and Braylee and Clayland Reese, her great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her companion, Bruce Secrist.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers Lawrence Edward, Jr., Floyd Adair, James Howard, and Merle Eugene Hipes and her sister, Linda Kay Hipes Daniels.A visitation to celebrate Patsy H. Reese's life will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton.Patsy will forever be remembered as a dedicated cook, an active community member, a talented artist, and above all, a deeply cherished and loved individual.
