Patrick Raley
Patrick Francis Raley, 73, of Strasburg, VA passed away Friday, September 6, 2024, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Raley was born in Leonardtown, MD on March 2, 1951, the beloved son of Erma Raley Watson. At the age of 14 he enrolled in Massachusetts Seminary. He was a graduate of Marquette University in Wisconsin and upon moving to Virginia he enlisted in the Virginia National Guard and became a Cardiac Technician. In July of 1981 he began his career with the City of Alexandria Fire Department and became a National Registered Paramedic. Mr. Raley retired in 2007. Patrick was one of the first responders to the Pentagon on 9/11. In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy J. Hahn and M. Jean (Jeannie) Sinatra.
Survivors include his wife Virginia “Ginny’ Raley whom he married in 2002; his daughter from his first marriage, Robyn Raley Joyce; his grandchildren Quaren Joyce and Lucas Joyce; his siblings Sister Judy Raley SCN, J. Martin Raley (Janet), Constance “Connie” Revis (Dan), James R. Raley (Trish), Melanie Dumont along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pat also considered everyone in his department his extended family.
A graveside service for Mr. Raley will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Panorama Memorial Garden. Full honors will be given by the City of Alexandria Fire Department. Everyone is invited to the Box Office Brewery, 177 E. King Street, Strasburg, VA for a time of food and fellowship immediately following the service.
The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Hom on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and will go in procession to the cemetery for the service.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions in memory of Pat to your local Fire Department or Rescue Squad.
