Oscar "Brownie" Dean Campbell
Oscar Dean ”Brownie” Campbell, 87, husband of Violet Marie (Ruley) Campbell, of Churchville Loop, Churchville, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at the Shenandoah Hospice House in Fishersville.
Mr. Campbell was born in Augusta County on September 18, 1936, a son of the late Lewis Campbell and Frances Elizabeth (Colvin) Campbell.
“Brownie” retired from Little’s Oil Company as a truck driver. He was a member of Jerusalem Chapel United Brethren Church. He enjoyed attending the stock yard sales, setting on his porch watching the traffic and driving his John Deere tractor.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by a son, Ronald “Ronnie” Campbell; a grandson, Wade G. Wilhoit; four brothers, Clyde, Donald, Fred, and Nelson Campbell; and four sisters, Ruth Ellen (Campbell) May, Maude Campbell, Bessie (Campbell) Fridley, and Mary Lou Campbell.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 63 years, is a son, Charles O. “Charlie” Campbell of Churchville; two daughters, Cindy M. Campbell of Churchville and Rita C. Wilhoit and her husband Eddie of Swoope; a brother, Edward Campbell and his wife, Cherie of Staunton; two sisters, Susan Fridley and Thelma Larson, both of Maryland; six grandchildren, Tabitha McDorman and her husband B.J. and family, Justin Campbell and his wife Ashley and family, Alli Dula and her husband Day, Branson Wilhoit, Kristin Silverio and her husband Ralpha and family, and Skylar Cupp; six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 9, 2023 at Oaklawn Memory Gardens by Pastor George Etling.
The family will receive friends anytime at the residence.
