Norman Peeler
Norman C. Peeler, MD, 79, of Staunton, VA, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025 after an extended illness. He was born in Charlottesville, VA, on June 1, 1945, a son of the late Melvin and Louise Peeler.
Norman graduated from Lee High School and later attended and graduated from the University of Virginia. He received his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. After serving as the Medical Director for Merrill Lynch in New York City, Norman pursued his interest in infectious diseases earning a Masters of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins University. He devoted the remainder of his career to humanitarian work with the World Health Organization and Doctors Without Borders serving in locations all across the globe.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Melvin.
Survivors include his brother, Robert; sisters-in-law, Cynthia and Marilyn ; nephews, Mel and John; niece, Kara; as well as extended family and friends.
Services will be private.
