Nelson G. Cline

Nelson Gardner Cline, 86, widower of Helen Mae (Kennedy) Cline, of Mount Sidney passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023.
He was born on November 26, 1937, in Mount Sidney, a son of the late David Elvin and Mae (Reed) Cline.
On September 15, 1962, he married the former Helen Mae Kennedy. They were married 52 years.
He was a member of the Lebanon Church of the Brethren in Mount Sidney, where he served as Treasurer of the Cemetery and Chairman of the Property Committee. He was also an avid sportsman and spent many years coaching Little League Basketball and Baseball. Nelson also enjoyed attending James Madison basketball games and NASCAR races.
Family members include a son, Kevin Kennedy Cline and his wife, Jana Napier-Cline; four grandchildren, Kendall, Chase, Carissa, and Chad Cline; a great-granddaughter, Arabella Mae Folweiler; and a special friend, Jannie Masincup.
In addition to his wife of 52 years, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold Garland, Stanley Reed, and David Olin Cline.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Lebanon Church of the Brethren.
A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Lebanon Church of the Brethren by Pastors Wayne Pence and Jerry Ruff.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Jimmie Aikens, Chad Cline, Chase Cline, Jay McDowell, Charles Wrenn, David Wright, and Jim Shreckhise.
Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Martin, Gary Kennedy, James and Nolan McDowell, Connie Switzer, Jannie Masincup, and Robert Bottenfield.
