Nancy McCauley
Nancy A. McCauley,84, of Crimora went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 18, 2024 at her home. She was born on July 22, 1939 in Nelson County, a daughter of the late Riley and Bessie Awkward Durrette.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Haywood McCauley, they were married on August 25, 1963; one daughter, Bertie Veney; one son, David McCauley; two step-daughters, Ann Taylor and Charlotte Taylor; four brothers, Daniel W. Durrette, Riley Durrette, Wardell Durrette and Roger Lee Durrette.
Survivors include her daughter, Gail Spears (Waddell) of Waynesboro; two sons, Haywood McCauley, Jr. of Crimora and Milton McCauley (Mary) of Maryland; two step-daughters, Perry Lee Bell and Denise Patterson; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Alphonso Durrette of Augusta, Georgia; her sister, Pauline Wallace of Fishersville Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. McCauley was a faithful member of Morning Star Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and was a church assistant treasurer. She retired from ASR and enjoyed traveling. She and her husband were well known in the community, always visiting the sick and shut-ins.

A funeral service will held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Morning Star Baptist Church, 375 Mine Branch Road, Crimora, conducted by Pastor Lewis LaRue Brooks. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Monday, January 22, 2024 at the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Dr., Fishersville.
