Nancy Garth Weaver

March 6, 1929 - June 3, 2026

Nancy Garth Weaver, age 97, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026, at English Meadows in Harrisonburg, Virginia. She was born on March 6, 1929, in Harrisonburg and was reared in Spring Creek.

Nancy was the daughter of the late Edwin Brown Garth and Sarah Vada Heatwole Garth. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Edwin Garth Jr. and Robert Garth; her sisters, Mary G. Miller and her twin sister, Elizabeth "Bette" Heatwole; and her husband of 40 years, Louis Paul Weaver, who passed away in 1990.

After graduating from Bridgewater High School, Nancy moved to Maryland to attend nursing school. There she met her husband of 40 years, Louis Paul Weaver. They were married in 1950 and made their home in Hollywood, Florida, where they reared their two children and built a life together.

Nancy devoted her professional career to caring for children as a pediatric nurse at Memorial Hospital in Hollywood, Florida, now known as Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital. Her compassion, dedication, and gentle spirit touched countless young patients and their families throughout her career.

Following Paul's death, Nancy found companionship and adventure with Richard Colligan. Together they spent twenty wonderful years exploring in their RV, often spending nine months of the year on the road. They traveled throughout 49 states and every Canadian Provinces multiple times, creating cherished memories and friendships wherever they went.

Nancy had a lifelong love of travel and explored much of the world with her family. She also enjoyed painting, watching game shows, and staying active. Even well into her 80s, she could often be found cleaning her gutters, push mowing her lawn, and tackling projects that would have exhausted people half her age.

She is survived by her daughter, Catana Weaver Fulk (husband Ron); her son, Montgomery "Monte" Weaver (wife Gloria); her beloved bonus son, Hong Van Dang (wife Malee); her grandchildren, Justin Alessi Weaver, Byron Fulk, and Jordan Weaver Barkley (wife Diane); and her bonus grandchildren, Christopher Dang, David Dang, and Robin Dang.

She is also survived by special nieces Beth Heatwole and Ann Healy. She was preceded in death by her beloved niece, Cindy Heatwole.

She also leaves behind special friends Mike and Sandy, whose friendship brought her much joy and companionship in her later years.

Nancy's family would like to express their gratitude to the caring staff at English Meadows and Gentiva Hospice for the kindness, compassion, and support they provided during her final weeks.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Clover Hill Volunteer Fire and Rescue, 2100 Clover Hill Road, Dayton, VA 22821, whose members Nancy considered her heroes.
