Mildred C. Brown
SWOOPE – Mildred Cox “Mid” Brown passed away on March 11, 2022 at her Valley Mill Farm in Swoope. She was born on June 29, 1928, a daughter of the late Walter Monroe Cox and Alma (Reed) Cox of Churchville. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mildred was a 1946 graduate of Churchville High School and a member of Hebron Presbyterian Church. Prior to her retirement she was employed by King’s Daughters’ Hospital for 18 years. She was absolutely dedicated to her family and farm.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Weldon Brown; brother Arnold Cox; sister Maxine Harris; and niece Lisa Wheeler.
Surviving family members include son James R. “Jimmy” Brown and his wife Donna K. (Harris) Brown, grandson Alex Brown and wife Jenni, and great-grandson Kemper Brown, all of Valley Mill Farm in Swoope; sister-in-law Imogene Harris; and nieces and nephews Linda Armstrong, Sharon Hogan, Mark Cox, Ray Cox, Kenneth Cox, and Dale Harris.
The family is grateful for the care given by those who have faithfully attended Mrs. Brown.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 15 in the chapel of Bear Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Steve Willis. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ray, Ken and Mark Cox, Dale Harris, Mike Miller and Tim Hanger. Honorary pallbearers will be Colt and Clint Lyle, Doug Harlow and Chris Sheffer.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
