Mildred Anne Armstrong Byrd

CHURCHVILLE – Mildred Anne (Armstrong) Byrd, 82, of Churchville, died Tuesday (April 18, 2023) in Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mildred was born November 13, 1940 in Staunton and was a daughter of Lester and Arbanna (Smith) Armstrong. Prior to retirement she was employed as a seamstress by Genesco. She formerly attended Deerfield Church of God. Some of her favorite pastimes were flower gardening and crossword puzzles; she loved feeding wildlife, taking rides on the Parkway, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Byrd; two sisters, Thelma and Judith Armstrong; and two brothers, James L. Armstrong and Thomas W. Armstrong. She is survived by three children, Steven Lloyd Byrd of Waynesboro, Tresa Peters and husband James of Mt. Solon, and Lynn Carper and husband Richard of Gatlinburg, Tenn.; a brother, Daniel K. Armstrong of Churchville and; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Kristina, Stephanie, Katelyn and Steven; and two great-grandchildren, Colton and Hadleigh.

A private graveside service will be held in West Augusta Cemetery.
