Michelle Campbell

WAYNESBORO – Ellen Michelle (Smith) Hammer Campbell, 46, died Thursday (September 22, 2022) in the University of Virginia Hospital.

Born April 9, 1976 in Rockingham County, she was a daughter of Robert Olen Smith and the late Ellen Marie (Miller) Smith Morris.

Michelle was a graduate of Harrisonburg High School. She attended Living Waters Community Church. She enjoyed participating in the life of the church, and also enjoyed cooking, reading, and following the Dallas Cowboys and Virginia Tech football. She treasured her family and her puppies.

Michelle was preceded in death by her mother; her husband, William Michael Campbell; and her grandparents, Cecil and Orpha Miller. Surviving are her son, Tyler Hammer and wife Brooke of Waynesboro; stepfather Richard Morris of Earlysville and his fiancé, Bonnie Dunivan of Earlysville; and sister Becky Elyard of Scottville, N.C.

A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, September 29 in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Brian Law. Active pallbearers will be Tyler Hammer, Richard Morris, Justin Burger, Brian Law, Wally Helmick and James Pozzie.
