Melissa Joan (Wilkerson) Roethlisberger
Melissa Joan (Wilkerson) Roethlisberger, 58, wife of William Miller “Bill” Roethlisberger, Sr., of Waynesboro, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at her residence.
Mrs. Roethlisberger was born in Alexandria, Virginia on July 17, 1966, the daughter of David Lee Wilkerson and the late Barbara Joan (Payne) Nulty.
Melissa was employed with the Augusta County Public School System as a teacher at Wilson Elementary School. A devoted member of Bridge Christian Church, she held her faith close to her heart, regularly studying the Bible and leading Bible studies. Melissa was a dedicated wife and mother and deeply cherished time spent together. She enjoyed pottery, quilting, painting and traveling to the beach.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Roethlisberger was preceded in death by her step-mother, Iris Wilkerson and an infant sister, Tonya Denise Wilkerson.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of 35 years and her father of Wilson, North Carolina, is her step-father, Gary Dale Nulty of Staunton; four sons, William Roethlisberger, Jr. and his wife, Camilla, Drew Miller Roethlisberger of Waynesboro, Nathan David Roethlisberger and his wife, Catherine Nicole of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Joshua Payne Roethlisberger and his wife, Kayla Elizabeth of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; a grandson, Owen Payne Roethlisberger; two brothers, Geoffrey D. Wilkerson and his wife, Crystal of Swoope and Jason M. Wilkerson and his wife, Angie of Staunton; a sister, Kaitie Saunders and her husband, Jason of Staunton; and nine nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2025 at Bridge Christian Church by Pastor Stacy Burkholder. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be her sons, William, Drew, Nathan, and Joshua Roethlisberger, and her brothers, Geoff, and Jason Wilkerson.
