Mary Lou Miller Clem

November 26, 1935 - March 18, 2025

Mary Lou Miller Clem, 89, of Mt. Solon was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 while residing at Birch Gardens in Fishersville, VA.

She was born on November 26, 1935, the third child of the late Clifford Peter and Martha Elvira (Michael) Miller.

Mary Lou graduated in 1953 from Wilson Memorial High School where she met her sweetheart and companion for life. On February 5, 1955 she was united in marriage to William "Bill" Joshua Clem, II, who preceded her in death in 2021. Prior to marriage, she attended Petersburg School of Nursing.

An excellent homemaker, devoted wife and mother of six, Mary Lou enjoyed serving the Stokesville community in which she lived. Her relationship with Jesus Christ began and so also her commitment to teaching Sunday School, delivering food bank groceries, studying the Bible, singing in the choir, feeding Brethren Disaster Relief project teams, as well as other acts of faithful service. Her hobbies and talents included gardening, preserving, crafting, taxidermy, fishing, reading, embroidery, cross stitching, and much more. She will be remembered for her kind heart, meek spirit, fierce love, playful demeanor, and goooood cooking, to name a few attributes. She was a friend to everyone.

Surviving in addition to a sister, Betty Miller Honig Reeves of Mt. Solon, are her children, Cynthia Wilkerson (Alan) of Middlebrook; Brenda Brocato (Mark) of Heathsville; Donna Chandler (Greg) of Grottoes; Kimberly Smiley (Robert) of Craigsville; Christopher Clem of Bridgewater; and Sarah Armentrout (Wes) of Rockingham. 14 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren also survive as well as numerous nephews and nieces who'll fondly remember their "Aunt LouLou".

She was preceded in death by brothers, Clifford "Buddy" Miller of Lynchburg and Marcus "Doc" Miller of Mt. Solon; a sister, Martha Botkin of Staunton; a nephew, Jeffrey Miller of Lynchburg; and a grandson, Nathan Robert Smiley of Craigsville.

The family will gladly receive friends 5-7 PM on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater. A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Emmanuel Church of the Brethren in Mt. Solon, with Sherrill Michael officiating. The family wishes to express their appreciation for Gentiva Hospice Service, namely Destyne, Aurora, & Whitney, for their attentive care in Mary Lou's last days.
