Mary Frances Bedwell
Mary Frances Bedwell, 94, of Waynesboro, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at the residence of her daughter.
Mrs. Bedwell was born in North Carolina on July 24, 1929 to the late Garnett A. and Mamie Alice (Combs) Bedsaul.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Lee “C.L.” Bedwell; daughter, Alice B. Roadcap; grandson, Jared Roadcap; siblings, Garnett Bedsaul, Muriel Thompson, Leo Bedsaul, Odell Bedsaul and Shirley Baker.
Survivors include her daughter, Jo Anne Hammer and husband Terry of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Chad Hammer and wife Meredith, Joshua Hammer and wife Kelly, Cory Hammer and wife Erica, Katie Roadcap Swette and husband R.J.; great grandchildren, Blake and wife Kasey, Shawn and fiancée, Raven, Logan, Peyton, Leighton, Camden, Lane, Keylon, Malcolm and Charlotte, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bedwell retired as Clerk of the Waynesboro General District Court after 46 years service and was a long standing member of the Virginia Clerks Association. Her kindness and love could be seen through her crocheting and gifting over 500 “ Baby Love” pattern blankets over the years.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Riverview Cemetery, 420 Rosser Ave., Waynesboro with Pastor Billy Coffey officiating.
There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. Family and friends may pay their respects and sign the guest book from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
The family wishes to thank her Nurse, Lauren Gochenour, her aide, Gracie Turner and Drs. Heck and Young for their care.
