Mary Ellen (Western) Smiley

Mary Ellen (Western) Smiley, 94, widow of Thomas Wilson Smiley, of Waynesboro, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Augusta Health in Fishersville. 
Mrs. Smiley was born in Augusta County, Virginia on December 13, 1928, the daughter of the late Wayman Western and Delta (Crickenberger) Western.
Mary was a member of Barren Ridge Church of the Brethren. “She lived her entire life serving the Lord and others.” She enjoyed cooking, baseball, visiting others, and being a farmer’s daughter and wife. 
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. 
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Smiley was preceded in death by a son, Terry Wilson Smiley and a brother, John Western.
Surviving, is a grandson, Michael Smiley and his wife, Gina of Waynesboro and a great-grandson, Cordell Smiley. 
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 18, 2023 in Middle River Church of the Brethren Cemetery by Pastor Henry Elsea.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is handling her arrangements.
