Mary Elizabeth Hughes

Mary Elizabeth Hughes, 79, of Berry Moore Road, Greenville, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025 at her residence. 
Ms. Hughes was born in Buena Vista, Virginia on November 7, 1945, a daughter of the late Andrew Johnson Hughes and Myrtle Irene (Henson) Hughes. 
In addition to her parents, Ms. Hughes was preceded in death by six brothers, Leonard Lee, Jimmy, Charles, Paul, Eugene, and Lester Hughes. 
Surviving, are three brothers, Wilford Hughes and his wife, Linda, Lewis Hughes and his wife, Evalina, and Glenn Hughes and his wife, Nancy; five sisters, Juanita “Sissy” Chittum and her husband, Stanley “Omer”, Martha Kessel, Doris Ashby, Ellen Stubblefield and her husband, Donnie, and Sue Berry; and a number of nieces and nephews. 
A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastors Larry Strickler, Merle Dodson, and Glenn Hughes. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. 
Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. 
Active pallbearers will be Chad Slagle, Seven Slagle, Sebastian Slagle, Clay Hughes, Stanley Chittum, Jr., Joe Chittum, Emerson Chittum, and Mykah Mass.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
