Mary Catherine Virginia (Wilson) Cain

Mary Catherine Virginia (Wilson) Cain, 93, widow of Delmer Courtney “Buzz” Cain, of Staunton, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2026 at The Legacy at North Augusta in Staunton. Mrs. Cain was born in Moorefield, West Virginia on March 16, 1933, a daughter of the late Mada Lee (Turner) Shiflett Wilson, and her husband, Dewey Shiflett and Claude Oscar Wilson. Mary and Buzz happily enjoyed 75 years together. Mary was a member of Verona United Methodist Church. She enjoyed camping, making pottery, crafting with ceramics, and taking trips to the Outer Banks. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Cain was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Wilson and his wife, Barbara “Pud”. Surviving, is a daughter, Cathy C. Myers and her husband, Mike of Staunton; a brother, James “Jim” Wilson and his wife, JoAnn of Frederick, MD; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2026 at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, 165 Fairfield Drive, Staunton, Virginia 24401. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 2026 at Pleasant View Lutheran Church Cemetery by Pastor Amy Pannell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Weyers Cave United Methodist Church, 228 Houff Road, Weyers Cave, Virginia 24486. The family would like to express a sincere "Thank You" to the staff of The Legacy at North Augusta and The Legacy Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Mary.
