Mark Lynn Loyd, 63, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Augusta Health in Fishersville. He was born on November 25, 1962, in Staunton to the late Harold “Bud” Max and Betty Margaret Snyder Loyd. Mark proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, Mark was employed for forty-three years in the warehouse at Fisher Auto Parts in Staunton, where he eventually worked as the manager. Mark loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church in Staunton. He had a lifelong passion for athletics. An avid softball player, Mark spent many years on the ball field, enjoying the competition and the game he loved. In his youth, he excelled in track and field at Robert E. Lee High School in Staunton, where he established school records in the mile and the 1600-meter run, a testament to his athletic abilities. Above all, Mark cherished his family. Some of his fondest memories were made during family vacations to the beach. Those trips became treasured traditions that his family will forever hold close to their hearts. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Ryder Loyd; his daughters, Siobhan Bodkin and Megan Loyd; his brothers, David William Loyd and Kenneth Robertson; his sister, Amanda Dawn Caplette Kinkead and her husband, Richard; his grandchildren, Dyllon Ward, Ollie Griffith, Jayzlynn Griffith, Vincent Woodson, and Alaysia Bodkin; his aunt and uncle, Jim and Bonnie Ryder; his sisters-in-law, Susan Hicklin and her husband, Don and Elaine Diana; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton with Pastor Sarah Locke officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton. Serving as active pallbearers will be Don Hicklin, Michael Hicklin, Doug Ryder, Will Bodkin, Dyllon Ward, Tommy Masincup, and Ollie Griffith. Memorial contributions may be made to the University of Virginia (UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center, 6171 West Complex, P. O. Box 800334, Charlottesville, VA 22908).
